


A teacher residency is a training program to help you become a certified teacher. Once you’re accepted into a residency program, your program will place you in a school.
As a teacher resident, you’ll work in a classroom alongside a mentor teacher. You’ll get hands-on experience, build your skills and take classes outside of your scheduled school hours.
During your residency, you’ll learn from the best teachers in your field. Depending on your district, you may also earn a salary or stipend! With residency programs, you may need to commit to teaching in your school district for a certain period of time after you graduate.
When you graduate from an approved residency program, you can earn your Enhanced Standard Teacher Certification. This enhanced certificate gives you an advantage when it’s time to apply for teaching jobs!
