The TechTeach Across Texas allows you to complete a Bachelor of Science degree and your teaching certification without leaving home. Our school district partnerships allow Teacher Candidates to complete their student teaching in one calendar year. In that year, students will also complete 54 credit hours online through Texas Tech University to earn their Bachelor's of Science in Multidisciplinary Studies. Classes are broken up into six semesters, summer to summer. Although the courses are delivered online, you are required to (physically) be in the DFW area to work in designated clinical sites in our partner school districts during the student teaching practicum.

New teacher candidates will start working in classrooms in the first semester. They will work closely with mentors to improve the achievement of their students throughout the program and receive support and specific feedback aimed at improving their teaching behaviors. Course work during the program is practical and designed to prepare teacher candidates to provide teaching that impacts student learning.

TechTeach works hard to prepare our teacher candidates to reach all populations of students and provide them with avenues to success. All our candidates will be prepared to take the ESL certification exam, as well as the Special Education exam. Those certifications are built into our program and are not extra classes or tuition. Our graduates have the opportunity to finish with up to four certifications if they are also inclined to pursue Bilingual certification. 

TechTeach teacher candidates follow the school district calendar and work with an experienced, intentionally selected mentor teacher for the entire year while being supported by a Texas Tech University site coordinator who coaches and works alongside each teacher candidate in the school.
