Program Overview
Combining coursework and field experience, the comprehensive early childhood education program emphasizes developmentally appropriate practices that support whole-child development, building expertise in content knowledge, child development and guidance, data-driven instruction and family engagement.
Help young minds develop a love for learning. A bachelor's degree in elementary school teaching prepares you to teach early childhood through sixth grade in the state of Texas. Gain skills needed to design, execute and evaluate instructional practices to meet the needs of all students.
You'll have the opportunity to complete an internship and residency at a local school district as part of your degree program. Upon completion of the program and passing all TExES exams, you'll be certified to teach in elementary schools throughout Texas. This program includes a year long clinical teaching experience and leads to the Texas Early Childhood-grade 6 teacher certification.
Grades 4 through 8 mark a period of transition and transformation in young children. Help students develop mental, social, personal and intellectual growth as an upper elementary or middle school teacher. A bachelor's degree with middle school certification offers a number of specialties, allowing you to concentrate on specific interests.
