Applicant Info

The College of Education has opportunities for all people who are seeking Texas teacher certification. Dallas Baptist University has two options: at the undergraduate level, DBU offers teacher preparation programs through earning a bachelor’s degree as well as obtaining Texas teacher certification. For people who already have a bachelor’s degree, DBU offers an alternative route to Texas teacher certification called the Pathways to Teaching Program. The Pathways program is designed for people who have a bachelor’s degree and are seeking Texas teacher certification in one of the content areas that DBU certifies in.

Academic records, standardized test scores, personnel recommendations, extracurricular activities and community involvement are all important considerations that are made when reviewing applicants. DBU is looking for students with at least a 2.5 grade point average, and a minimum standard composite test score of 21 on the ACT or a combined Critical Reading and Math score of 1020 on the SAT. With these standards in mind, admissions decisions are based on a holistic evaluation of the applicant.

DBU offers several scholarship opportunities including the Christian Leadership scholarship, the Church Matching scholarship, and several others. 84% of students at Dallas Baptist University receive federal, state, or institutional financial aid and the Financial Aid office is dedicated to helping students find resources to help cover the tuition cost of attending DBU, which is $846 per credit hour.
