    Why I Teach

I took interest in helping others succeed from a young age when I began mentoring kids in his community. I feel an obligation to provide a wealth of knowledge and experience that can help spark student interest in future careers, and I believe that connecting with students to establish a trusting relationship is an important part of being an educator.

“When my students express that I was a huge part of their achievement, that’s what I’m most proud of.”

I received my teaching certification at Quality ACT in Irving and pursued a Master's in Education Leadership with a Principal Certification from Dallas Baptist University. I constantly seek professional development at the local, state, and national level.

I ultimately think that teaching requires staying up to date on education policy, constantly looking for ways to improve instructional strategies, developing great leadership skill, and strengthening parent and community member relationships. I also believe that building a sense of community in the classroom is key to getting all students to participate and showcase their abilities. I firmly believe that no child should ever fall through the cracks.

    About Grand Prairie ISD

    • About GPISD

Grand Prairie is conveniently located in the heart of the Metroplex, centered between the cities of Dallas and Fort Worth, and is a learning community vigorously pursuing student success. Grand Prairie ISD’s mission is to ensure student success through engaging learning experiences, collaborative leadership, and a focus on maximizing student achievement. GPISD concentrates on the concept of “The 6 Plays”: Vertically and Horizontally Aligned Curriculum, Model of Instruction, Data-driven Decisions, Relational Capacity, Intentional Leadership, and Visit What We Value. “The 6 Plays” of Grand Prairie Schools were created using the example of legendary NFL coach Vince Lombardi who was said to have only used a handful of plays. Those plays, executed with precision, proved to be virtually unstoppable. Grand Prairie ISD adopted that same philosophy with these “6 Plays.” Each “play” addresses either a specific function (instructional delivery) or a broader concept (relationship building, leadership). All of these things, when done with intention and focus, drive the day-to-day operation of the district with one goal in mind: Student Achievement.

    • For GPISD Teachers

GPISD offers regionally competitive salaries and compensation packages and pays the maximum allowed in Texas for employee health insurance coverage. GPISD also provides safe, secure, state-of-the-art classrooms and each teacher and instructional staff member is provided the use of an iPad and the choice of an Apple or PC laptop computer to aid in the delivery of 21st century learning for all students. GPISD offers high-quality child care centers for employees and Beyond the Bell, an after-school care program available to all students. Grand Prairie ISD is a portfolio school district with schools of choice, programs of choice as well as traditional and comprehensive elementary, middle, and high schools.
